As national and international power and energy industries continue to grow, issues with risk transfer become more prevalent. The Deepwater Horizon litigation that grew out of the BP Oil spill is a current example of how risk transfer in this industry, specifically relating to additional insured coverage, requires significant attention and skill when contracting with other parties or obtaining insurance coverage. SDV has experience in reviewing purchase orders and other contractual agreements for leading power and energy companies and providing recommendations to maximize coverage. We have also represented a number of power and energy companies in coverage disputes relating to their builders risk, commercial property, and liability policies.
