Mr. Doernberger graduated from Columbia College in 1966 and received his Master of Arts degree in Economics from Columbia University in 1969. Before obtaining his law degree, Attorney Doernberger taught high school and college courses in math and economics for several years. Subsequently, Mr. Doernberger attended the William S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii and graduated with his Juris Doctor degree in 1976. After four years of commercial litigation practice at Honolulus largest law firm, Cades, Scutee, Fleming & Wright, Mr. Doernberger relocated to Connecticut to head the litigation department at Sachs, Berman, Rashba & Shure, P.C., a large New Haven based firm. He practiced there from 1980 until 1996, after which he opened his own law practice. Mr. Doernberger joined SDV as a partner in 2001.
Mr. Doernberger concentrates on complex commercial litigation focusing on insurance coverage issues. He has extensive experience in construction, corporate and partnership, environmental, real estate and contract litigation. He has successfully tried numerous court and jury cases, mediations and arbitrations in these areas. In addition, he has argued before the Connecticut Appellate Court, the Connecticut Supreme Court, the Hawaii Appellate and Supreme Courts and the Second and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal.
