Professional Activities:

Mr. Suerth joined SDV after completing four years of active duty service with the U.S. Army's Judge Advocate General's (JAG) Corps. During his time in the military, Mr. Suerth represented numerous soldiers at trial, as well as on appeal, arguing in front of both the U.S. Army Court of Criminal Appeals and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces. Mr. Suerth's military experience also included a one-year deployment to Iraq, where he served as legal advisor to an infantry unit. Before entering the military, he was associated with a firm in New London, Connecticut where he concentrated in commercial litigation, and also served as a legislative aide to former Connecticut Congressman Rob Simmons. Mr. Suerth has focused his practice on insurance coverage litigation on behalf of corporate policyholders within the construction industry. He has represented clients with respect to multi-million dollar insurance claims under commercial general liability, professional liability and builders risk policies.

In addition to his practice at SDV, Mr. Suerth is active in public service. He participates in a statewide child advocacy program, Lawyers for Children America (LFCA), which matches children who are victims of abuse, neglect and abandonment with attorneys who donate their time to serve as counsel and guardian ad litem for these children. Mr. Suerth was also appointed to the State of Connecticut's Council on Environmental Quality by Governor M. Jodi Rell. Most recently, Mr. Suerth organized an event where he and other attorneys provided free wills for veterans.
