Summer Associate Program

We are always looking for motivated summer associates to join our team of dedicated professionals.

The summer associate program at SDV provides practical experience in a fast-paced law firm setting. Law school students are assigned to cases and work directly with our partners, associates and paralegals as integral members of the legal team. Summer associates focus on research and assist in drafting opinion letters, motions and briefs. They are also invited to participate and contribute during strategy and case management meetings.

We introduce our summer associates to complex insurance coverage issues on a national level. As a result, they become familiar with jurisdictional law across the country and experience a unique analytical approach to dispute resolution and complex litigation.

Summer associates receive regular feedback from the partners and associates they work closely with. Prior to concluding their summer experience, each summer associate receives a review of their work performance and is also encouraged to critique their experience with SDV.

At SDV, we work tirelessly to ensure that the experience of each summer associate is rewarding and fulfilling. Summer associates are encouraged to participate in all in-house training sessions, and they gain experience by attending depositions, hearings and trials.

In addition, the firm picnic is planned to include the summer associates, and each August we host an additional firm-wide outing is planned prior to the summer associates’ departure.

We welcome the opportunity to meet with all law school students interested in joining our team as summer associates. We regularly participate in the Quinnipiac University School of Law, the University of Connecticut School of Law, and Georgetown Law School’s Summer Associate Recruitment Programs. We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with these schools and the students who have come to us as summer associates throughout the years. We have also had great success recruiting from the University of Connecticut School of Law Diversity Program.

Individuals who are interested in applying for a summer associate position at SDV may email, mail or fax a cover letter and resume to:
