Navigating the Nuances of Complex Builders Risk Claims.
TBD
Tracy Alan Saxe, Saxe Doernberger & Vita, P.C.
Robert Glasser, Berkeley Research Group
Hillary Price, Lockton
The panel will address how Builder’s Risk (“BR”) claims need to be prepared in line with the adjuster’s and carrier’s expectations. They need to provide supporting documentation with extensive details regarding the nature and amount of the costs claimed, their direct association with the loss event, and packaged in a manner that will lead to a fair and expeditious resolution of the claim.
Also addressed will be the need to understand the delay in schedule; loss of profits due to the delay in opening; that coverage is for properties in the course of construction or renovation; values and risk increase during the course of construction; the construction contract may involve multiple parties who may be Insureds; and multiple concurrent construction activities may complicate the adjustment process.
